One AMC reader’s snaps from sunny Queensland in the ‘70s and ‘80s

This diverse mix of pics mostly from Queensland circuits Lakeside and Surfers Paradise in the ‘70s and early ‘80s (the shot of Fred Gibson’s XA Falcon parked on the edge ofthe track is at Skyline at Bathurst in ‘73) come from Brisbane’s Tony Senden. Among Tony’s selection is a rare pic of a Dick Johnson V8-powered Torana XU-1 (see this issue’s Whaddayaknow), and an under-bonnet shot showing the neat mid-mount installation off the 351 V8 in John Goss’ Falcon Lightweight Sports Sedan. Queensland readers no doubt will fondly recall the outstanding viewing opportunities the long-lamented Surfers Paradise circuit offered, not just on the main straight but also around the back section at the Repco Hill.
