Holden HQ Sandman in Barbados Green
The Sandman was a big part of the tradie’s workhorse becoming a lifestyle vehicle. Sure, the surfers had been using panel vans and Kombis for ages, but the Sandman was the rst serious attempt by a manufacturer to dress up such a car rather than it being strictly utilitarian (ED: maybe apart from Holden’s ‘Superchicken’ a few years earlier – see page 88). This 1:18 scale model is in die cast with opening parts. And the colour put an earworm in my head – Barbados by The Models. Appropriate or what? Anyway, this looks great. Okay, it’s an icky ‘70s colour but it would jump right out at anyone looking at you could expect to pay somewhere around $260, but with the dollar bouncing around so much – well, maybe check with www.biante.com.au to make sure.
