Holden commemorative collection

-

With the introduction mid next year of Chev Camaros in Supercars racing, this year’s Bathurst 1000 is expected to be the nal time a Holden will start in the Great Race.

It is, then, the ‘ nal roar’ of the Holden lion this December on Mount Panorama.

To mark this solemn occasion, Downies Collectables has released a limited-edition gold-plated coin set, Holden’s Final Roar Enamel Penny Collection.

The collection is celebration of Holden’s rich racing history literally from the beginning right up until the last year’s emotional Bathurst 1000 win for Shane van Gisbergen and Garth Tander.

Starting with a coin commemorating the rst international competition appearance for a Holden (and one of the rst in racing or rallying anywhere), the Tony Gaze/ Stan jones/Lex Davison 48-215 that contested the 1953 Monte Carlo Rally, the collection features some of the big milestone moments in Holden’s competition history, including: Norm Beechey’s HT Monaro GTS 350, the rst Holden to win the Australian Touring Car Championship, the Peter Brock/Jim Richards 1979 Bathurst 1000 winning Torana A9X, the Larry Perkins/ Gregg Hansford VP-model Commodore that won the 93 Bathurst 1000 – the last Holden engine to win Bathurst – Craig Lowndes’ rst Bathurst win, three years later with Greg Murphy, the remarkable HRT Commodore VX win for Mark Skaife and Tony Longhurst in 2001.

The pennies are presented in individual sleeves within a custom-designed black case, and each set is accompanied by a certi cate of authenticity. Only 2500 sets will be made of the Holden’s Final Roar Enamel Penny Collection, which is officially licensed by Holden.
