Sigma 35mm f1.2 DG DN Art

-

THIS IS THE first f1.2 speed 35mm wide-angle for the full-frame Sony FE and L mount cameras from Sigma itself, Leica, and Panasonic. It combines exceptional resolution with all the creative possibilities inherent with the shallow depth-of-field available at apertures as large as f1.2. Additionally, Sigma’s DG DN lenses are compatible with the in-camera

lens correction processing, thereby further enhancing image quality.

The 35mm f1.2 DG DN Art has an optical construction comprising 17 elements in 12 groups. There are three SLD (super-low dispersion) glass types to correct for chromatic aberrations, and three aspherical elements, including one double-sided type to provide effective correction for distortion. Additionally, this optical design is optimised for the short flange-back distance of mirrorless cameras and is able to resolve over 50 million pixels. Autofocusing is via a large Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) which delivers the necessary torque required to drive the focusing group. The manual focus ring is a fly-by-wire type, enabling a full-time manual override. The minimum focusing distance is 30 centimetres. An 11-blade diaphragm enhances the shallow depth-of-field characteristics by generating beautifully smooth out-of-focus effects.

Externally, the barrel is full sealed against the intrusion of dust or moisture, and a special water- and oil-repellent coating is used on the exposed surface of the front element. This lens has a traditional aperture control ring which has a de-click function to enable seamless adjustment when shooting video. For enhanced durability, the barrel tubes are metal and the mount is made from rugged brass.

With its 35mm f1.2 DG DN Art model, Sigma has made the classic 35mm wide-angle prime lens even more versatile and capable.
