Sigma 135mm f1.8 DG HSM Art

-

The 135mm focal length is a key one among short-telephoto prime lenses, suitable for a wide selection of applications – such as portraiture and street photography – and offering an attractive combination of perspective compression and angle-of-view. Sigma’s 135mm f1.8 DG HSM Art lens adds the creative potential of selective focusing via its fast maximum aperture. It also offers the outstanding resolution required for imaging onto ultra-high resolution D-SLR sensors.

The optical construction employs 13 elements in ten groups, and which includes two made from SLD (Special Low Dispersion) optical glass and two made from FLD (‘F’ Low Dispersion) glass. The FLD glass offers ultra-low dispersion in combination with high transmittance and the anomalous dispersion characteristics of fluorite. All these special elements work together to minimise chromatic aberrations, including residual chromatic aberration known as “secondary spectrum” which can seriously compromise image quality if uncorrected.

Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating is applied to reduce both flare and ghosting and ensure sharp, high-contrast images even in strongly backlit conditions. A nine-blade diaphragm delivers beautifully smooth out-of-focus effects, and is electromagnetically controlled for uniformity of exposure control. The lens’s large hypersonic motor (HSM) delivers ample torque to the focusing group for outstanding speed, ensuring exceptionally stable performance even at lower speeds. A full-time manual focus function allows the lens to be switched to manual focus at any time by simply adjusting the focus ring.

On the outside, the Sigma 135mm f1.8 Art lens has a fully weather-sealed construction, including around the mount which is machined from brass for enhanced durability. The choice of mounts is for Nikon, Canon, L-Mount, Sigma SA and Sony.
