More Sigma Lenses For Full-Frame Mirrorless Cameras…
Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art
The current winner of the Full-Frame Prime
Lens category in the annual Camera Magazine Imaging Awards, the 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art is significantly smaller and lighter than the DSLR version, making the most of the mirrorless camera configuration. The shorter back focus distance also makes it easier to achieve a more uniform centreto-corner sharpness. The optical construction comprises 15 elements in 11 groups with a total of six special elements at work – one aspherical type and five made from optical glass with extra-low dispersion characteristics (i.e. Sigma’s Special Low Dispersion glass). The physical construction employs a combination of aluminium and composites (the latter to prevent any temperaturerelated variations to tolerances) with full weather sealing. There’s a manual aperture collar that’s switchable between click-stopped setting or seamless adjustment, and it can also be locked to prevent accidental miss-setting. There’s also a focus lock button, and it can be assigned other functions via the camera body… another benefit of the Sigma lens being fully integrated with the FE and L mounts.
