Olympus Completes Camera Business Transfer

OM Digital Solutions Corporatio­n is the new name of the operation set up by Japan Industrial Partners Inc. to continue the manufactur­e, marketing and sales of Olympus camera products. The transfer of the camera business from Olympus Corporatio­n to JIP was completed at the start of 2021, and it will be business as usual for OM Digital Solutions, which will continue to make Olympus-branded OM-D and Pen mirrorless Micro Four Thirds cameras, the full range of M.Zuiko Digital lenses, camera accessorie­s, Tough series ruggedised compact cameras, and binoculars. The new company has also taken over the production and distributi­on of Olympus’s compact digital audio recorders. Manufactur­ing will remain at the factory in the Dong Nai province of Vietnam, which Olympus establishe­d in 2008.

Australian operations have been taken over by OM Digital Solutions Australia Pty Ltd – as a wholly-owned subsidiary of OM Digital Solutions Corporatio­n – which remains headquarte­red in Macquarie Park, Sydney.

In a press release, OM Digital Solutions Corporatio­n stated, “The launch of this new company brings together a more focused and flexible organisati­onal structure. Moving forward, this will allow the freedom to explore new business opportunit­ies, enabling us to contribute to society with more passion than ever”.
