L’Oreal UV Sense

Australian T3 - - 2018’S GADGET WISHLIST -

This is the first wearable, battery-free electronic sensor for detecting UV light levels – stick the tiny pad onto your fingernail before you head out for a day in the sun, and it tells an accompanying app on your phone when your level of exposure to harmful rays is getting too high (and better coach you on sunblocking up). It was created with gadget-design maestro Yves Béhar, and is activated by UVA and UVB rays. It’s 2mm thick, and L’Oreal claims it could be worn for several weeks. Expect to see it launch under the company’s La Roche-Posay brand in the US very soon, and worldwide next year. $TBC, loreal.com
