Much like vinyl records, fashions tend to go round in circles – and aesthetically, this turntable harks back to a time when men smoked pipes and women wore petticoats. Happily, though, the Kozmophone boasts some smarts. For a start, it’s modular, so you can remove the horn and connect it, via Bluetooth, to your laptop or smart device as a portable speaker. If you keep the horn on the turntable, you can rotate it 360 degrees to direct sound around the room. But the feature that probably got most of its Kickstarter funders excited (it’s due for launch in December) is its holographic display. Choose from a range of icons, download it, then have it rotating inside the turntable’s perspex pyramid. Magic.

T3 SAYS: Some might consider it gimmicky, but as a conversation starter, the Kozmophone ticks all the boxes.
