SIX WAYS TO GET MORE FROM YOUR BROMPTON ELECTRIC

-

01 CHARGE YOUR DEVICES

The Brompton Electric comes with a USB connector in the top of the battery pack, meaning you can charge your phone on the go, as long as you have a cable that’s long enough and a handlebar mount – which will be handy when you get a load of the next thing in this list…

02 GET THE APP

Though it wasn’t available at the time of writing, Brompton has promised to release an app this year that allows owners of the Brompton Electric to connect to the bike over Bluetooth and check your speed and mileage, as well as adjust individual riding modes on the fly.

03 SPEED UP CHARGING TIMES

The standard charger included with the Brompton Electric is a 2A unit, which means it’ll take about 4.5 hours to get a full charge when you plug it in. If you want to cut down the charge time to a more respectable 2.5 hours — perfect for those on the go — you’ll need the optional 4A fast charger.

04 GET MORE RANGE

Brompton recommends you pump up the tyres to 100psi to minimise the amount of rolling resistance. In doing this, you’ll give the motor, and yourself, a bit less work to do as you ride.

05 PREP FOR A COLD WINTER

Bike batteries don’t like the cold, so when you’re parking your Brompton, remember to take the battery off and store it indoors. Also, keep the battery fully charged if you’re not using it for a while.

06 CHECK IT BEFORE YOU TRAIN WRECK IT

Obviously, the Brompton Electric is an ideal commuter aid, which makes it perfect for catching trains. While you could happily jump on one without a problem, some operators require you to carry it in a bag, so check before you ride.
