THE ART OF HOSPITALITY

-

Art Series Hotels keep nudging the concept of accessible art to new and interesting heights; its latest project explores the current trend of ‘participation art’, which directly engages the audience in the creative process. Until the end of December, the hotel group’s Colour Your Stay collaborative art project will see a room at The Olsen and The Blackman in Melbourne, and The Johnson in Spring Hill, Brisbane transformed into a white-washed blank canvas, which guests will be encouraged to complete collectively over three months. Those checking in to the hotels until the end of December will be given free rein (plus spray cans, paint brushes, a gown, mask and gloves) to add to the ever-changing mural. The first marks were made by Australian street and stencil artist Luke Cornish, aka ELK (the first stencil artist to be named as a finalist in both the Archibald Portrait Prize and Sulman Prize): portraits of each of the ar tists in their namesake hotels. The ColourYour Stay packages start from $189 per night. artserieshotels.com.au
