Australian Traveller

WELCOME TO OUR SPECIAL EDITION PARENTS’ GUIDE

- LEIGH-ANN POW, EDITOR editor@australiantraveller.com

to all of our amazing Australian capital cities, proudly presented in partnership with Tourism Australia. Family holidays are the stuff that lifelong memories are made of, so investing the time in planning the ultimate escape and attempting to keep everyone happy is of paramount importance, and something that can take you hours, days and weeks to research, hone and commit to.

So when it came time to pull this issue together (with a little help from a team of talented contributing writers who also happen to be parents themselves) we wanted to put equal thought into how to present the perfect love letter to each of our vibrant, compelling and undeniably family-friends capitals. We wanted to make it informative and suited to the needs of your family; it needed to speak to you, the parents, but also get young ones and teens excited about the adventures to come. And most importantly, it needed to help you get to where you want to go with as much knowledge and the least amount of fuss so that the fun can start as soon as you hit the ground.

In the pages that follow – which we have colour coded for easy reference – you will find practical plan-and-go itineraries to each city that will take you from morning to night and A to B. There’s eating guides that reflect the diversity of our culinary landscapes, and hit lists of the best family holiday stays. If you want to super-size your break with a side trip or two, they’re there too.

For your teens we’ve curated safe and fun activities and sights that will allow them to explore with independence, while you stay close at hand (but not too close). And your kids will love the bonus illustrated checklists that they can pull out and take with them as they discover the 10 best things to do in each city before they turn 10.

We hope all of these feed your enthusiasm to pack up the gang and hit the road (or take to the skies) to enjoy some much needed family time, and that the resulting memories will be something you treasure for years to come.

Enjoy!

We have done our best to make sure the information contained in this issue is as accurate as possible in light of current events. Always check ahead when planning your travel.
