Chef Luke Mangan is taking his celebrated culinary approach a few blocks down the road from his glass brasserie at Hilton Sydney to oversee another hotel restaurant when Luke’s Kitchen opens in Kimpton Sydney early 2022.The hotel, the first for the luxury brand in Australia, will be housed in a 1930s Art Deco building. ihg.com
The Green
Brisbane’s hip James Street precinct has another hotspot on its hands with The Green, a Lebanese eatery-cum-nursery. The sleek marble, wood and concrete space tilts towards industrial chic, but the hard lines are softened by an abundance of greenery. Executive chef Warren Turnbull (ex-Tetsuya and Chur Burger) has curated a menu of breakfast, brunch and lunch plates that are a mix of traditional and mod Middle Eastern. Frui Momento
Western Australian culinary identities chef Seth James and winemaker Larry Cherubino have pooled their considerable talents to open Frui Momento (Latin for ‘enjoy the moment’).The 50-seat restaurant in the Margaret River region of Wilyabrup will offer up both an à la carte and informal grazing menu that diners can enjoy amid spectacular gardens, all of which will be accompanied by wines from the Cherubino portfolio, as well as specialist imports.
Faro Bar + Restaurant
Mona’s acclaimed Faro Bar + Restaurant (above) has introduced a new series of culinary takeovers.The high-concept dining experiences will include experimental dishes, music, performance, cocktails and more, with Tokyo Punk the first theme. The set menu ($150 per person including drinks) will be served over lunch and dinner, and there’s also a luxe set menu experience at $350 which includes matched wines and entry to JamesTurrell’s Event Horizon and Unseen Seen. mona.net.au
