PLANS to de­velop an in­te­grated aged care fa­cil­ity in Wat­tle Grove are pro­gress­ing af­ter the City of Kala­munda re­ceived a de­vel­op­ment ap­pli­ca­tion plan for the pro­posed de­vel­op­ment at Lot 500 Gavour Road.

The ap­pli­ca­tion seeks to pro­vide de­vel­op­ment guid­ance for the fu­ture es­tab­lish­ment of an aged care fa­cil­ity and re­tire­ment vil­lage.

Since 2004, landowner and aged care de­vel­oper Ross Leighton has sought to have the land re­zoned from spe­cial ru­ral to spe­cial use to en­able the de­vel­op­ment of the in­te­grated aged care fa­cil­ity.

In June 2017, Plan­ning and Lands Min­is­ter Rita Saf­fi­oti ap­proved a plan­ning scheme amend­ment to al­low for an in­te­grated aged care fa­cil­ity to be built at the site which is an old polo ground.

Pub­lic sub­mis­sions on the de­vel­op­ment ap­pli­ca­tion close on July 15.

The City will hold a com­mu­nity in­for­ma­tion meet­ing on July 5 at the City’s ad­min­is­tra­tion cen­tre func­tion room between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
