Watch the waste

Avon Valley Gazette - - NEWS -

AS Swan View and Midvale residents start putting their junk on to the kerb for the annual bulk rubbish collection, the Shire of Mundaring is warning residents that staff will be watching and may issue fines for waste set out incorrectly.

Infrastructure services director Shane Purdy said the maximum amount of bulk waste that could be placed on a verge was two cubic metres.

“In addition, the Shire advises that residents cannot place items out any earlier than two weeks prior to their collection week or allow items to obstruct the footpath or spill out on to the road,” he said.

“These guidelines are in place to not only ensure ease of access for the bulk verge collection vehicles but to ensure the safety of residents and aesthetic of Shire streets are upheld throughout the collection period.

“Shire staff will be monitoring verges and fines may apply for waste not set out correctly.”

The bulk verge collection period will span six weeks this year, with collections scheduled for all suburbs this month, September and October.
