GOLF: With almost 40 years experience in the sport, Annette Walters has been crowned the winner of the 2018 Ladies Queensland Sandgreen B-Grade Championships in Tambo.

At the weekend seven women from St George made the trip to Tambo for their chance to win the two-day competition, but in a close game, it was St George’s Walters who took the win in a play off against Denise Vale.

Walters said after falling six behind the leader on the first day, the windy and wet conditions on the second day went in her favour.

“I was so nervous and so shaky. We were both 179 for the weekend off the stick and it was on hole three that Denise flew one down on the green and missed with her putt. I nailed the putt and was lucky to have a good chip,” Walters said.

Other success for the St George ladies was with Helen Turvey securing third with 180 off the stick for the weekend and Lyn McCosker winning a pin shot.
