St George reserves get their mojo back
RUGBY LEAGUE: St George Saints had a mixed weekend of rugby league, with the reserve-grade team delivering a standout performance against the Mitchell Magpies.
However the A-grade woes continued for the home team, going down 36-10 against the Magpies despite an improved performance from previous weeks.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the performance of the hot and cold reserve-grade team, who put on a spectacular showing against the Magpies.
By full time the score read 60-4, a masterclass from the reserve-grade team who lost heavily against the Miles Devils two weeks ago.
Craig Thurston was the hat-trick hero of the afternoon, while Colin Webster received man of the match honours thanks to a priceless try assist and his on-field work ethic.
The bounce back would be very pleasing for the team, which has struggled for consistency this season.
The result means the Saints sit in fourth spot on the competition ladder just behind the Roma Cities.
Both teams will next play competition heavyweights the Wallumbilla/Surat Red Bulls, who sit second on the ladder in both A-grade and reserve grade.
SPEEDSTER: Colin Webster breaks the Magpies’ line on Sunday.
