LOCALS doing it tough in the Balonne were given some care packages at the weekend as Gold Coast charity organisation Support the Girls teamed up with Likeminded Painters and Care Balonne to deliver bales of hay, bras and sanitary items.

Katherine de Haan, corporate and community manager at Support the Girls, said the experience was like no other.

“The communities in the Balonne are a very close and tight-knit group who are very thoughtful of others,” she said.

“It was fantastic to deliver over 200 bales of hay in both Begonia and Nindigully and to leave family care packages behind which could mean less income is spent on everyday essentials.”

After Support the Girls reached out to Care Balonne, the wheels were set in motion with fundraising acquiring over 250 bales of hay and approximately 30 family care packages for both towns.
