The Bordeaux region is where it all started for James Martin, who trained in the Michelin-starred Hostellerie de Plaisance in Saint-émilion.
On this eight-day journey, James will talk about why he loves this region, do a French classics cookery demo and take you on a tour of Bordeaux, before cooking a gala dinner alongside Uniworld’s French executive chefs. Wine expert, writer, and Saturday Kitchen regular Susy Atkins will also be on board for claret tastings, and to select wines for the dinner. Set sail from Bordeaux, and discover the Unesco-listed citadel of Blaye, where you can do yoga in the heart of a fortress. Visit some of the Médoc’s finest wineries; take in Saint-émilion, Cadillac and Pauillac; sample produce in Libourne’s famous farmers’ market; and visit UNESCO World Heritage sites before returning to your starting point. You’ll travel on the luxurious S.S. Bon Voyage. It’s designed to immerse guests in French culture, art and wine, from its stunning lobby to staterooms with marble bathrooms. On board, you’ll have a choice of four restaurants offering five-star cuisine, with all meals and drinks included. There’s an infinity pool and sun deck, fitness centre and the Serenity River Spa.
