NAME Black + Blum stainless steel lunchbox

PRICE about £30

Cleverly designed, this lunchbox is stainless steel, with a silicone strap that holds a fork on the outside. There’s a removable divider that slides up and down to make two adjustable compartments and the base can go in the oven as well as being safe to put in the freezer. However, you can’t put it in the microwave, and it’s only partially dishwasher-safe. We packed a salad, liberally drizzled in olive oil, before turning the lunchbox upside down and swinging it about a bit and it didn’t leak a drop.

NAME OXO Good Grips on-the-go lunch container

PRICE about £16

If you’re after a lunchbox that’s e ective, practical and solid, without worrying too much about the style, this one’s for you. This box has a deep main bowl that can easily house a large roll or salad. There’s also a removable shallow top layer for a sandwich, biscuits, carrot sticks or anything else you fancy, so you can keep your food separate. You can put the box in the microwave and the dishwasher. We did everything we could to make this leak but failed. It was absolutely airtight.

NAME Yours Sustainably bamboo and cornstarch lunchbox

PRICE about £15

This is a dinky little box with impeccable eco credentials – it’s biodegradable, being made from a mix of bamboo and cornstarch. Even the label is made from recycled material. We were able to it a whole sandwich inside before trying the salad-and-oliveoil test. The box speci ically says it isn’t airtight, so we thought it performed well – just a few drops leaked through. This is an ideal size if you don’t want to cart around anything too chunky.
