Good Food

Over to you!

We asked our BBC Good Food Together Facebook group (and members of our team) to tell us about the best meal they’ve had in a UK restaurant since lockdown measures were eased, plus how local restaurants, cafes and bars have adapted post-lockdown. Here’s what you told us…

• Lulu Grimes

‘I had a full English in Café Corsa in Gillingham. It’s set in the Old Wyke Brewery, with a beautiful garden. The tables are well-spaced, there’s hand sanitiser everywhere, and sta wear visors. Produce is largely local, and dogs are welcome!’

• Wendy Hanna

‘We got ish and chips from our favourite pub, The Victoria Hotel in Drigg, Cumbria.’

• Christine Hayes

‘My irst meal out was at Seabird, London. It specialises in oysters, Spanish-in luenced small plates and plancha, and it was excellent. We ate on the outdoor terrace and accessed the menu via QR codes, which were on coasters on the tables.’

• Debbie Hughes

‘Not been out to a restaurant yet, but we did have a lovely ish and chip takeaway from Nick’s Plaice in Northampton.’

• Karen Chaney

‘We haven’t been out yet, and we’ve missed our 40th wedding anniversary evening at The Ritz Hotel in London for its “live at the Ritz” night. Thinking of that is keeping me going!’

• Marcus Lynch

‘Fabulous breakfast at Deal Pier Kitchen. We had the full English. Good local sausage and bacon. Very nicely done and lovely service and location.’

• Naomi Spaven

‘Went to Duke Street Food and Drink Market in Liverpool, and it was so good! The way we order has changed, but the food hasn’t. We had siu mai, lamb kofta latbread and a garlic mushroom cubano sandwich.’

• Vic Taylor

‘We went to San Pietro in Scunthorpe for our irst meal out since the lockdown. It was for my dad’s birthday, and we’d originally booked in March. It was nice to inally celebrate.’

• Keith Kendrick

‘I queued up to be irst into my local, The Stag in London, when lockdown eased. It has a big garden and tables are spaced out, so it was a pleasant, safe experience. I go at least twice a week to eat sourdough pizza.’
