5 ways to activate your love hormone
Sometimes called the ‘love’ hormone, oxytocin boosts feelings of contentment towards another person. Here’s how to get it flowing this Valentine’s Day
Listen to music: Studies suggest it can help raise oxytocin levels.
Share a meal: While eating certain foods can boost positive feelings, actually cooking and sharing a meal with someone is a great way to feel bonded.
Have a cuddle: Physical intimacy, whether that be hugs, cuddles or hand-holding can boost oxytocin levels, whether with a partner, a friend or even a pet.
Take vitamin D: This won’t in itself increase oxytocin, but it plays a central role in its activation and control within the body. Speak to your GP about vitamin D testing or supplementation, especially during the winter months.
Make conversations meaningful: Close interaction can release oxytocin. Put away distractions and offer your full attention.
