The 12 August is known as ‘the glorious 12th’, when, traditionally, game-hunting season begins – initially with grouse. Feathered and furred game is some of the most sustainable meat in the UK, but the meat industry was one of those hardest hit by lockdown restrictions as restaurants are a cornerstone of the trade. Game is also a great lean meat that’s low in cholesterol and high in protein, with the added advantage of being full of flavour.
