I’m loving the ‘cook the cover’ feature; it’s even better with the free gift this month. It takes me back to school days, when the Beano free gift was a triangular piece of cardboard and paper that went bang!

Seriously though, I have resubscrib­ed after nearly 30 years, when I had a marriage break-up and needed some serious selfteach, good cooking techniques. I confess, I had been lazy in leaving the kitchen regime to my ex-wife, who was very adept at the more quotidian form of cooking, and I was looking for something a bit more interestin­g.

I used Good Food magazines from the early 1990s and took on board some good ideas that I still use today to impress my partner. Rich Wilde, Newport, South Wales
