Hetty’s spiced rice with beef
My mum was born in Ghana, but is now British-ghanaian. We eat lots of traditional Ghanaian dishes, often served with rice – two of our favourites are waakye and jollof rice. A few years ago, a family friend made me this spiced rice dish
– she always cooks an interesting array of dishes for us, and this one was completely new to me. I introduced it to my mum and brothers, who loved it. We like it because it’s seasoned with plenty of spices without being too hot – it has a lovely warming flavour. Hetty Ashiagbor, video producer
