Stella James was born in Benin City, Nigeria, and helped her mum Amoke run her street-food business. When Amoke died, Stella was eventually trafficked to the UK. She escaped after more than three years, but was then held in detention for four months. Now, she runs cookery classes with Migrateful, a charity that supports migrant and refugee chefs (migrateful.org ).
