What I love about a garden party is that it can be relaxed – just having friends round for a barbecue – or it can be fancy, like I imagine those at Buckingham Palace must be. Here, I’ve taken inspiration from the latter. When hosting a gathering in your garden, it’s easy to end up being stuck inside while you’re preparing dishes, so I like to keep things as simple as possible, with just a few special flourishes. That might mean prepping ahead or choosing quick nibbles, like these waldorf salad chicory bites. They go down well with a glass of fizz.
