5 OF THE BEST Air fryers

Hailed as the must-have kitchen gadget for lowering energy costs, we tested a range of models to pick our top five

- Compiled by LYDIA ANDERSON

Cosori Pro 4.7-litre

This is one of the most understated modern air fryers on the market – though it’s a standard size, it won’t dominate your work surface. The 4.7-litre capacity is practical for feeding two, or for making side dishes for four people. We reduced traditional temperatures by 10 degrees as its 1500W power is ferociously eff˜icient, particularly when roasting. Available from Amazon (£109.99)

Magic Bullet 2.5-litre

If you need a simple, fuss-free air fryer at a competitive price, this might just be the one for you. The Magic Bullet is a solid, compact machine that’s incredibly easy to use, without compromising on the quality of cooking results. Though it’s relatively small, the fry pot o†ffers enough space to cater for a small household. Its 2.5-litre capacity is ideal for a decent-sized portion of chips, vegetables, burgers or sausages. Available from Nutribullet (£69.99)

Ninja Foodi Dual Zone

We were impressed by both the build and the versatility of this Ninja Dual model. The inclusion of two drawers makes it ideal for simultaneously cooking two things at di†fferent settings, like a main course and side dish that need to be ready at the same time. We were able to master the controls fairly quickly and the cooking results were excellent.

Available from Ninja Kitchen (£199.99), Argos (£200)

Breville Halo rotisserie air fryer oven

If you have the space on your countertop for a large appliance, Breville’s latest air fryer is a statement multifunctional gadget. It holds a small, trussed chicken (you need to keep its wings and legs neatly tucked in) for easy rotisserie, and includes a basket that keeps chips moving for even crisping. Three airf•low racks are also included for baking and cooking. Available from Argos (£170)

Cuisinart air fryer mini oven

Most air fryers cook using convection technology, but you’re limited by capacity. This Cuisinart mini oven o†ffers plenty of room and air-frying is just one of a range of features. It comes with a baking tray, oven rack and air-fryer basket for use across seven functions: keep warm, panini and toasties, grill, toast, roast, bake and air fry. Available from Amazon (£249), John Lewis & Partners (£250)
