For stock­ists see Ad­dress Book. DESIGNE R AN­NIE BEN­JAMIN “I was en­gaged to de­sign the k itchen, among other spa­ces , for a ren­o­vat ion for a cou­ple with young adult chil­dren. The orig­i­nal house had a small kitchen and sev­eral small rooms com­ing off it. I rad­i­cally re-planned the kitchen space, en­larg­ing it and cre­at­ing a but­ler’s pantry which con­nected to a new laun­dry at the rear, re­mov­ing a se­cond re­dun­dant hall­way and bring­ing light into the kitchen. The clients are fun peo­ple who love to spend time with friends in their home so cre­at­ing beau­ti­ful and func­tional spa­ces for en­ter­tain­ing was a key goal. How­ever, lux­ury and glam­our were equally im­por­tant and the clients gave us a very free rein to cre­ate a lux­u­ri­ous kitchen which would seam­lessly f low into the liv­ing spa­ces and onto the ad­ja­cent ter­race. While gen­er­ous, the kitchen oor­plan is not huge and the is­land bench nec­es­sar­ily be­came a crit­i­cal fo­cal point, both aes­thet­i­cally and func­tion­ally. The seat­ing area looks to be carved from the block and dou­ble sides al­low views of the har­bour and a con­vivial spot for re­laxed meals.
