The original house had a small kitchen and several small rooms coming off it. I radically re-planned the kitchen space, enlarging it and creating a butler’s pantry which connected to a new laundry at the rear, removing a second redundant hallway and bringing light into the kitchen. The clients are fun people who love to spend time with friends in their home so creating beautiful and functional spaces for entertaining was a key goal. However, luxury and glamour were equally important and the clients gave us a very free rein to create a luxurious kitchen which would seamlessly f low into the living spaces and onto the adjacent terrace. While generous, the kitchen oorplan is not huge and the island bench necessarily became a critical focal point, both aesthetically and functionally. The seating area looks to be carved from the block and double sides allow views of the harbour and a convivial spot for relaxed meals. The end result is luxurious and functional.” anniebenjamindesign.com.au
