SCCI Cinéphile Hub 2020 presents a conversation between John McAslan CBE of John McAslan + Partners, which in 2016 revived London’s King’s Cross Station (below), and Dolla Merrillees on ‘Making Design Matter’. As the UK practice has opened a Sydney office and is undertaking a major project at Central Station, the talk will focus on design’s capacity to effect change: addressing hidden homelessness, connecting cities and communities, and supporting the democratisation of culture. “We need a kick up the backside to be more innovative,” says McAslan. scci.org.au
