The positionin­g called for careful handling by the architect as, according to planning regulation­s, the presence of Eagle Rock and the nearby historic lighthouse meant nothing could interfere with the sightlines of either landmark. The floating roof gives a refined sense to the robust structure designed to protect against the elements.
