Benalla’s Cooinda Aged Care held its annual general meeting on Tuesday, September 26, celebrating the many highlights it has achieved during the past year.
Cooinda Board president of 10 years, Colin McDonald, who stepped down from the position this year, proudly touched on a few highlights.
These included Cooinda’s outstanding benchmarked resident satisfaction rating of seventh from 170 aged-care facilities across Australia and New Zealand.
Cooinda achieved a 100 per cent compliance result from unannounced visits.
It also won the Victorian/ Tasmanian Excellence Award from industry association Leading Age Services Australia (LASA).
All of that on top of winning Best Business as it picked up four awards at the Benalla Business Network Awards ceremony earlier this year.
The meeting attracted more than 80 people, who witnessed the passing of the president’s position to Benalla local and long-serving board member Doug Smith.
In his acceptance speech, Doug reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Cooinda’s building upgrades, including the 28-room high-care ‘‘Ledger Wing’’, which is under construction and future stages of Cooinda’s Building Master Plan.
Staff, board members and volunteers were also individually recognised for their achievements and length of services.
Eleven staff members received their 10-year service badge and enrolled nurse Stephanie Henwood was recognised for her 15 years of service to Cooinda.
‘‘It was wonderful to see so many Benalla people attend this year’s annual general meeting,’’ chief executive officer Margaret Aldous said.
‘‘The support we received from our community is very generous.
‘‘I’d like to thank U3A for the attendance as guest speaker and choir performance.
‘‘The past 12 months has been very busy for Cooinda, so it was nice to be able to reflect on our hard work and achievements and thank the community for its ongoing support.
‘‘We gratefully thank all our board members, who contribute their expertise and time to ensure Cooinda retains strong governance and leadership and is well supported as we continue to focus on our values of delivering genuine, compassionate care to our residents and staff.’’
