TAFE staff ex­plore ed­u­ca­tion evo­lu­tions

While stu­dents were tak­ing ad­van­tage of a well-earned break, Goul­burn Ovens In­sti­tute of TAFE staff took the op­por­tu­nity to de­velop and hone their skills at their an­nual staff de­vel­op­ment day in Be­nalla.

Staff de­vel­op­ment day is an op­por­tu­nity for all staff, train­ers and sup­port staff to come to­gether from var­i­ous cam­pus lo­ca­tions, to en­gage with tar­geted pro­fes­sional learn­ing ac­tiv­i­ties de­signed to ex­plore the emerg­ing evo­lu­tions in ed­u­ca­tion.

GOTAFE staff are strong ad­vo­cates for life­long learn­ing, and de­vel­op­ment day al­lowed them to col­lab­o­rate in an en­vi­ron­ment that will equip them to ed­u­cate the stu­dents of to­mor­row.

The af­ter­noon team-build­ing ac­tiv­ity pro­vided an op­por­tu­nity for staff to put their ap­plied learn­ing into fo­cus, by build­ing bikes for un­der­priv­i­leged chil­dren.

As dual key­note speak­ers of the event, Mar­cus Barber pre­sented find­ings on emerg­ing ed­u­ca­tion and teach­ing trends, while Ben Car­nell dis­cussed his spe­cial­i­sa­tion in the ap­pli­ca­tion of sports psy­chol­ogy for busi­ness.

Work­ing on skills: GOTAFE staff from across the re­gion re­cently at­tended a staff de­vel­op­ment day at the Glasshouse. One of the ac­tiv­i­ties in­cluded build­ing bikes for un­der­priv­i­leged chil­dren.
