William wins Bulldogs’ b&f
Benalla’s William Stickland was crowned the Best and Fairest player for the Benalla Bulldogs under-14s this year, picking up his trophy at a recent awards night.
While in top form for the Bulldogs this season, William was also called up throughout the year to play for the Under-16 team.
According to his dad Ray, the award came as no shock.
‘‘He was very excited, but at the same time we had a fair idea he was going to do it as he had a ripper of a year,’’ Ray said. ‘‘Everyone told us he had it in the bag.’’ The young footy star also polled well in the league Best and Fairest, walking away with 14 votes.
William has big plans for his footy future, and said he hopes to one day be drafted to play for Essendon in the AFL.
‘‘A lot of local people are playing AFL now. It’s nice to turn on the TV and see a local bloke playing for one of the big teams,’’ Ray said.
William will be back with the Bulldogs next season and will be doing his best to take out Best and Fairest for a second year.
