Premier rolls into town

- By Simon Ruppert

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews rolled into Benalla on Monday in his new campaign bus, stopping to chat to locals and enjoy a quick visit at the art gallery.

‘‘I’m always pleased to stop off for a coffee at Benalla Art Gallery. It’s a fantastic city and a great place,’’ Premier Andrews said.

‘‘We’re on our way to Wangaratta to make some important announcements in relation to health.

‘‘(If Labor is re-elected) we’re making specialist care a lot easier for regional Victorian families, with 500 000 additional appointments, a 25 per cent increase in the number of appointments that occur across regional Victoria now.

‘‘To put it simply specialised care and the dedicated medical support that you need (will be) close at hand and close to home, so you don’t have to travel to Melbourne.

‘‘It’s great news for regional patients, and of course for their families. And we know that health is such a big employer across regional Victoria, so it’s good for jobs also.’’
