CFA members honoured

Benalla Ensign - - VICTORIAN STATE ELECTION 2018 - By Simon Ruppert

Baddaginnie CFA held its presentation evening at the local fire station last Wednesday where members celebrated a combined 550 years of service.

Twenty-eight members were presented with CFA service awards by District 23 Operations Officer Dean Simmons.

The awards ranged from five years to 55 years of service to CFA.

CFA member Ben Cook said the event was a huge success.

‘‘We had a number of people along and on top of the presentation it was a good social event for the brigade as well, particularly leading to what could potential be a busy fire season,’’ Mr Cook said.

‘‘The presentations went well. We handed out quite a few CFA service awards, so we had members who received a five-year service award to a member that received a 55-year service medal.

‘‘We gave out a total of 28 awards on the night.’’

Fire season planning workshop

The Baddaginnie Fire Brigade has 50 members and has responded to more than 60 call-outs so far this year.

It is hosting a joint community bushfire workshop with Warrenbayne and Goomalibee brigades this Friday, November 2, at 6 pm at 616 Tarnook Rd, Tarnook.

The evening will include a free barbecue and discussion on what we can expect this season, fire danger rating information, warnings and advice and how to prepare your property.

Well deserved: 28 service awards were given out at the recent Baddaginne CFA presentation evening.
