Chapter visits region
More than 30 HarleyDavidson Motorcycles thundered their way into Benalla on Saturday morning, as part of a North-East tour and overnight Ride to Harrietville.
The Yarra Valley HOGs (Harley Owner Group), is one of the 1400 official worldwide Chapters, sponsored by HarleyDavidson.
This particular chapter is sponsored by Harley-Heaven in Ringwood, Melbourne.
HOG members are an eclectic mix of riders, ranging from 18 to 70 years — across a wide range of professions.
As well as touring, the group participates in many fundraising and charitable activities, such as the Brighter Days Festival in March 2019.
In November the club runs a Poker Run, which raises money for Veterans Mental Health.
The Yarra Valley chapter boasts that one-third of its members are female, and it has a strong Ladies of Harley sub group.
The HOGs dropped in to see the progress on the restoration of the Old Benalla Butchers House on Carrier St, which is owned by Yarra Valley Chapter members Kim and Richard McKellar.
‘‘It was great to have the HOGs come through Benalla, the weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed their time in town,’’ Mr McKellar said.
To join a HOG Chapter, you need to own a HarleyDavidson, and register yourself and your bikes details with HOG in Milwaukee USA. After this has been approved, you can apply to join your local HOG Chapter.
Under control: A fire which started in a pile of rubbish on a property at Baddaginnie had to be extinguished by Benalla CFA last week. The CFA is urging people to clean up their properties as we head into what is expected to be a long, dry fire danger period.
Enjoying our city: The HOG Yarra Valley Chapter rumbled its way into Benalla on Saturday.
