Tractors rip it up
A strong crowd of about 1000 streamed into Winton Motor Raceway on Sunday to witness the first Australian Tractor Pull Event to hit Winton.
Drivers sent the dirt flying in their new and vintage tractors, with some making the long journey to hit the track.
Winton Motor Raceway operations manager Wayne Williams said two tractor owners from Corowa made their way on vintage vehicles, taking three days to arrive in Winton.
He said it was a big event, with plenty of people coming to witness the tractor spectacle.
‘‘It is definitely unique and being the first time we can add another string to our bow,’’ Mr Williams said.
‘‘We try to do different.
‘‘We will definitely be doing it again next year.’’
Mr Williams also said the event had the potential to transform into a twilight event, with spectators able to come out for a night of tractor madness.
With just two months left on the calendar, this weekend at Winton will see the RXA Australian Rally Cross Nationals, followed the weekend after by round six of the Australian Motor Racing Series.
Another big drawcard for the track will come on December 7 to 10 for the Formula SAE Asia-Pacific. things that are a bit
Thirty teams of Uni students from across the world will make and bring electric cars to be compared and judged at the track.
‘‘It’s the only one of its kind in the world,’’ Mr Williams said.
