Art show praised

-

The Tatong Art exhibition officially opened on Friday, November 2, with a special event featuring speeches by Benalla Rural City Councillor Barb Alexander, acting Mayor Peter Davis and Member for Euroa Steph Ryan.

Each spoke in glowing terms about the efforts and skill shown by small-town volunteers in conducting such events.

Awards were made in various categories and judged by Eve Crocker from the Benalla Art Gallery.

The overall winner was Kate Jenvey with her depiction of a ceremonial soldier on horseback.

Best local artist was won by Marg Zaal from Swanpool and the best junior artist was Will Jones from Upper Ryans Creek.

The exhibition was open throughout the Benalla Festival with attendees keeping the volunteers running the event busy.

The Tatong Art Show will return to the Benalla Festival next year.
