Up­ston elected Mayor

At a Spe­cial Meet­ing of Be­nalla Ru­ral City Coun­cil on Novem­ber 14, Cr Scott Up­ston was elected Mayor and Cr Peter Davis was elected Deputy Mayor.

In ac­cor­dance with the Lo­cal Govern­ment Act 1989, Cr Up­ston and Cr Davis have been elected to their po­si­tions for a one-year term un­til Novem­ber next year.

Cr Up­ston said he was en­thu­si­as­tic and hum­bled.

‘‘I am thank­ful for the sup­port my fel­low coun­cil­lors have shown in elect­ing me Mayor,’’ Cr Up­ston said.

‘‘I look for­ward to work­ing col­lab­o­ra­tively with all of the com­mu­nity in­clud­ing lo­cal busi­nesses, in­di­vid­u­als, the fed­eral and state govern­ments, and our char­i­ta­ble and not-for-profit or­gan­i­sa­tions.

‘‘I would like to thank Cr Firth and Cr Davis for their work as both mayor and act­ing mayor and look for­ward to re­ly­ing on their sup­port and ex­pe­ri­ence dur­ing my term as mayor.’’
