Last Thurs­day the Be­nalla Cro­quet Club hosted the Be­nalla Fes­ti­val for Golf Cro­quet with 58 play­ers from across North­East Vic­to­ria en­ter­ing the event.

Cro­quet play­ers rep­re­sented teams from Wan­garatta, Walla Walla, Shep­par­ton, Euroa, Echuca-Moama, How­long, Wodonga, Twin City, Yar­ra­wonga and of course Be­nalla.

The weather pro­vided per­fect con­di­tions for the day of cro­quet, with close scores re­flect­ing the high stan­dard of com­pe­ti­tion.

The club said all play­ers en­joyed the stan­dard of prepa­ra­tion of the courts and the ca­ma­raderie on the day.

Geoff Bath from Be­nalla won with 35 hoops on the day, closely fol­lowed by Ger­ald Mil­ton (Wodonga) and Alan Hunter (Walla Walla) both joint run­ners up with 34 hoops.

Ron Allen from City scored the jumps on the day.

Be­nalla Cro­quet Club play­ers who rep­re­sented the club in­cluded Steven Green­way, Alex Ad­kins, An­nette Ad­kins, Chris­tine Blay, Bruce Blay, Deb­bie Hazell, Caro­line Sims, Jenny Briggs, Mar­cia El­liot and Steven Green­way.

The club said if you have an in­ter­est in cro­quet, or wish to watch, Be­nalla Cro­quet holds club days each Tues­day and Thurs­day morn­ings start­ing at 8.30 am for a 9 am start.

Paul O’Brien lost to Mark Grif­fiths 2-3. Treena McNair de­feated Gerry Mar­gat fill in 3-0. Sec­tion two. Smith Dosser Ac­coun­tants de­feated Hol­ly­woods Pizza two rub­bers to one. Gerry Mar­gat de­feated Jo Hen­der­son 3-0. Liam Mar­gat de­feated Bart Cann 3-1. Toby Cur­rie lost to Kate Camp­bell 0-3. GV Hy­draulinks de­feated Maw­sons Con­struc­tions two rub­bers to one. Gary Man­ning de­feated Ray Moul­day 3-1. Damien Gil­bert lost to Greg Cor­nell 2-3. Deanne Man­ning de­feated Jai­dyn Pas­tuszka 3-0.

In last week’s games, Rain­bow War­rior (team two) de­feated Rangers (team three) 148-127, while Sea Dogs (team one) de­feated Ram­page (team five) 111-101.

There were four three game win­ners last week with Sally, Lois, Colin and Adam L.

The on-call team this week is Ram­page (team five).

The club said to try to be at the courts by 7.15 pm for a warm-up to start games promptly at 7.30 pm.
