Last Thursday the Benalla Croquet Club hosted the Benalla Festival for Golf Croquet with 58 players from across NorthEast Victoria entering the event.
Croquet players represented teams from Wangaratta, Walla Walla, Shepparton, Euroa, Echuca-Moama, Howlong, Wodonga, Twin City, Yarrawonga and of course Benalla.
The weather provided perfect conditions for the day of croquet, with close scores reflecting the high standard of competition.
The club said all players enjoyed the standard of preparation of the courts and the camaraderie on the day.
Geoff Bath from Benalla won with 35 hoops on the day, closely followed by Gerald Milton (Wodonga) and Alan Hunter (Walla Walla) both joint runners up with 34 hoops.
Ron Allen from City scored the jumps on the day.
Benalla Croquet Club players who represented the club included Steven Greenway, Alex Adkins, Annette Adkins, Christine Blay, Bruce Blay, Debbie Hazell, Caroline Sims, Jenny Briggs, Marcia Elliot and Steven Greenway.
The club said if you have an interest in croquet, or wish to watch, Benalla Croquet holds club days each Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting at 8.30 am for a 9 am start.

In last week’s games, Rainbow Warrior (team two) defeated Rangers (team three) 148-127, while Sea Dogs (team one) defeated Rampage (team five) 111-101.
There were four three game winners last week with Sally, Lois, Colin and Adam L.
The on-call team this week is Rampage (team five).

The club said to try to be at the courts by 7.15 pm for a warm-up to start games promptly at 7.30 pm.
