Coun­cil’s new CEO re­vealed

Be­nalla Ru­ral City has an­nounced its new chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer who will take over from Tony McIl­roy, who de­cided not to re-ap­ply for the po­si­tion at the end of his con­tract.

Do­minic Te­stoni has been con­firmed as the coun­cil’s chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer from Jan­uary 16.

Mr McIl­roy has had a long ca­reer in the lo­cal govern­ment sec­tor, putting in more than 42 years, 15 as the Be­nalla coun­cil CEO.

Mayor Scott Up­ston said he and his coun­cil­lor col­leagues were ex­cited about wel­com­ing the new CEO.

‘‘Do­minic brings ex­pe­ri­ence in lo­cal govern­ment, small busi­ness and the not­for-profit sec­tor,’’ Cr Up­ston said.

‘‘We wel­come Do­minic and his fam­ily to Be­nalla and look for­ward to work­ing with him to con­tinue achiev­ing great things for our mu­nic­i­pal­ity.

‘‘Do­minic is from re­gional South Aus­tralia, so he has a good un­der­stand­ing of the is­sues and pres­sures fac­ing small re­gional coun­cils and ru­ral com­mu­ni­ties.”
