Be­nalla CFA reaches $1m mile­stone

Be­nalla CFA has been recog­nised for its fundrais­ing ef­forts for the Royal Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal Good Fri­day Ap­peal af­ter reach­ing a ma­jor mile­stone of $1 mil­lion dol­lars raised to date.

The award was pre­sented to Mr Ron Shultz, who has been in­volved in col­lec­tions for the Good Fri­day Ap­peal since the early 1970s.

He has taken part in a num­ber of fundrais­ing ini­tia­tives through­out the years in­clud­ing rat­tling tins and run­ning raf­fles.

This year, with his help, Be­nalla fire brigade achieved $26 000 in do­na­tions.

Mr Schultz was pre­sented with the award on Fri­day, Novem­ber 23, by di­rec­tor of the Good Fri­day Ap­peal, Anne Ran­dall.

‘‘We are so grate­ful to Ron and the whole Be­nalla Fire Brigade for their on­go­ing sup­port of the Good Fri­day Ap­peal,’’ Ms Ran­dall said.

Re­gional com­mu­ni­ties are the back­bone of the ap­peal and have al­ways pro­vided a high level of sup­port,’’ Ms Ran­dall said..

‘‘The Royal Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal is a world-class fa­cil­ity, and the funds con­trib­uted by the Be­nalla com­mu­nity en­ables the hos­pi­tal to con­tinue their great work.

‘‘The money raised goes to a num­ber of ar­eas in­clud­ing re­search, equip­ment, pa­tient and fam­ily cen­tred care, and ed­u­ca­tion and train­ing.

‘‘Thank you to the Ron Schultz, CFA mem­bers and the Be­nalla com­mu­nity for this fan­tas­tic achieve­ment.’’
