Benalla CFA reaches $1m milestone
Benalla CFA has been recognised for its fundraising efforts for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal after reaching a major milestone of $1 million dollars raised to date.
The award was presented to Mr Ron Shultz, who has been involved in collections for the Good Friday Appeal since the early 1970s.
He has taken part in a number of fundraising initiatives throughout the years including rattling tins and running raffles.
This year, with his help, Benalla fire brigade achieved $26 000 in donations.
Mr Schultz was presented with the award on Friday, November 23, by director of the Good Friday Appeal, Anne Randall.
‘‘We are so grateful to Ron and the whole Benalla Fire Brigade for their ongoing support of the Good Friday Appeal,’’ Ms Randall said.
Regional communities are the backbone of the appeal and have always provided a high level of support,’’ Ms Randall said..
‘‘The Royal Children’s Hospital is a world-class facility, and the funds contributed by the Benalla community enables the hospital to continue their great work.
‘‘The money raised goes to a number of areas including research, equipment, patient and family centred care, and education and training.
‘‘Thank you to the Ron Schultz, CFA members and the Benalla community for this fantastic achievement.’’
