They were beaten comprehensively by Avenel, who won seven sets 69 games to Blue’s two sets 53 games. Benalla Green hosted Longwood Lawn where matches proved to be quite even, however, it was Longwood’s day, stealing the win five sets 59 games to Green four sets 50 games. Young player Will O’Donoghue played his debut match for the Green team. Benalla Gold also had a tough assignment when they went down to Euroa Lawn seven sets 67 games to two sets 47 games. Community Play Saturday’s Community Play had another good showing, with 24 youngsters hitting the courts with their modified nets, racquets and tennis balls. The program caters for beginners aged four to six and the club said any youngsters interested in having a go can come along Saturday mornings from 8.30 am to 10 am at the Benalla Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
