Meet the new com­mit­tee

With Benalla’s fa­mous Wall to Wall Art Fes­ti­val only months away a new com­mit­tee has been formed to over­see the ev­er­pop­u­lar event.

With a mix of new faces and re­turn­ing mem­bers the com­mit­tee has the dif­fi­cult task of try­ing to bet­ter pre­vi­ous years.

Rox­anne De­mas­son, chair

Rox­anne has 14 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence work­ing in al­co­hol and drug ser­vice at Win­dama Drug and Al­co­hol re­cov­ery.

She also has six years’ ex­pe­ri­ence as part of bush­land part­ner­ship, Nat­u­ral Land Man­age­ment.

Rox­anne spent two years on the Benalla Fes­ti­val Ad­vi­sory Com­mit­tee and has spent five years vol­un­teer­ing with the Wall to Wall Fes­ti­val. She is re­turn­ing as chair for the sec­ond year.

Shan­non Thar­ratt, vicechair

Shan­non is a born and raised Benalla girl with a love of ru­ral Vic­to­ria. She has a pas­sion for dis­cov­er­ing and bring­ing to life pre­vi­ously undis­cov­ered or un­der-utilised cre­ative spa­ces.

Shan­non is a small busi­ness owner, op­er­at­ing One Wild Ap­ple cafe.

She is a co-founder of Win­ton’s Un­der the Nest mu­sic fes­ti­val, and is in­volved in co­or­di­nat­ing lo­cal events.

Shan­non is a re­turn­ing mem­ber of the Wall to Wall In­ter­na­tional Fes­ti­val com­mit­tee, and was for­mally pres­i­dent of the St Vin­cent De Paul Outreach group.

Kirsty Wel­lard, sec­re­tary

Kirsty is small busi­ness owner run­ning a cater­ing com­pany based in Glen­rowan. She also pro­duces and sells hand­made kids aprons, tote/en­viro bags, sewn goods and knit­ted bean­ies.

She pre­vi­ously owned and ran Ber­sty & Co in Wan­garatta.

Kirsty is a qual­i­fied chef with 14 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence.

She works at Pizzini Wines in Whit­field, help­ing to run their cook­ing school.

She has worked as far away as Canada and Ire­land and as close as her home town of Benalla.

Kirsty is an avid lover of the arts, gar­den­ing and ev­ery­thing cre­ative.

Meg Shee­han, com­mit­tee mem­ber

Meg Works as youth de­vel­op­ment of­fi­cer for Benalla Ru­ral City Coun­cil. She is pas­sion­ate about mu­sic and the arts. She has more than 10 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence in event man­age­ment and work­ing with emerg­ing and es­tab­lished mu­si­cians.

She be­lieves the Wall to Wall Fes­ti­val has the power to ac­ti­vate Benalla as a pro­gres­sive space for young peo­ple in Vic­to­ria.

Lau­ren Wight, com­mit­tee mem­ber

Lau­ren is the cre­ator and owner of Aura Or­gan­ica Aus­tralia.

She is a qual­i­fied beauty and mas­sage ther­a­pist.

She de­scribes her­self as a lover of na­ture, art and mu­sic.

Zach Blake, com­mit­tee mem­ber

Zach is a Benalla based artist who owns and op­er­ates a lo­cal in­de­pen­dent stu­dio gallery.

He brings a wealth of ex­pe­ri­ence in pub­lic re­la­tions to the com­mit­tee.

Alice Martin, com­mit­tee mem­ber

Alice holds a Bach­e­lor of So­cial Science (Psych) and was the Vic­to­rian Pre­mier’s Ru­ral Youth Vol­un­teer of the Year in 2014.

She has more than 20 years of vol­un­teer ex­pe­ri­ence, in­clud­ing be­ing a part of the Wall to Wall fes­ti­val since 2015.

Alice works for the fam­ily busi­ness and is an am­a­teur pho­tog­ra­pher and mother of two.

Brid­get Evans, com­mit­tee mem­ber

Brid­get grew up in Benalla and is em­ployed as an art teacher at Benalla P-12 Col­lege.

She is an art lover who is pas­sion­ate about find­ing ways to in­clude ed­u­ca­tion in com­mu­nity pro­jects.

Anna James, com­mit­tee mem­ber

Anna has worked as a pho­tog­ra­pher in Benalla spe­cial­is­ing in new­borns.

She is also a nurse at North East Health Wan­garatta as well as work­ing as an event plan­ner.

Anna is the co­or­di­na­tor of fundrais­ing for the New Hope Chil­dren’s Cen­tre in Uganda. She is also a mother of two. The com­mit­tee also in­cludes Tim Bowtell, David Joseph and Robyn Carnegie.

Ms Thar­ratt said the com­mit­tee would like to say a spe­cial thankyou to Mem­ber for North­ern Vic­to­ria Ja­clyn Symes for as­sist­ing with state gov­ern­ment fund­ing.

‘‘We will be ex­cited to re­lease more in­for­ma­tion as the col­lab­o­ra­tive plan­ning process with Judy Roller stu­dios con­tin­ues,’’ Ms Thar­ratt said.
