A-reserve in good shape
Benalla Bushrangers A-reserve side is in a great position after day one of its two-day game at the Gardens, bowling Ovens Valley United out for 102.
Ryan Lloyd-Williams starred with the ball, taking 5/28 from 11 overs while Senaka Lakmal finished with 3/31. Henry Sadaya and Bode Stevens also chipped in with a wicket each.
In reply, the A-reserve side made it to 2/68 at stumps and now aim to chase down the remaining 33 runs next Saturday.
Luke Dunne was not out 29 and Stevens not out nine. Regan Sheehan opened the batting and made 13.
The C-grade side remains winless after a heavy defeat by Yarrawonga-Mulwala at the Showgrounds.
Bowling first, the Bushies did well to bowl the visitors out for 145 in the 35th over.
Jack Fullager was the pick of the bowlers with 3/26 while Gurpreet Singh and Matt Knight got two wickets each.
Josh Ormand, Sam Cullen and Trev Taylor also grabbed a wicket.
However, in reply, the Bushies were bundled out for 49 including six ducks.
Fullager completed a great game with 24 runs from opening the batting while Grayson Kirk was unbeaten on nine runs. This weekend C-grade travels to Mansfield to take on Delatite.
In the juniors, the Under-16s are on top of the ladder after defeating an undermanned Ovens Valley United side playing at Myrtleford.
Bowling first, the Bushies skittled OVUCC for 69 as Charles Moll starred, taking 3/5.
Other wicket takers were Jack Fullager, Jasper Grayson Kirk.
In the run chase, the Bushies compiled 3/141 from their 20 overs.
Luke Dunne, Deakyn Kohler and Jack Fullager retired on 30 and Bode Stevens made 19.

In Under-14s action, the Benalla Bushrangers lost a close game to Delatite while the Benalla/Greta combine side thrashed City Colts.
The combine side bowled City Colts out for 47 and then made 5/117 in reply. Liam Semmens made 21 and Pat Wright 19 while in the combine bowling, Semmens and James Parker took two wickets each.
Tom Binion, Max Woods, Nick McAsey and Max Cullen all got a wicket each.
The Benalla side batted against Delatite and made from their 21 overs.
Willem Hyland top scored with 17 not out and George Lithgow was unbeaten on 16. Delatite racked up 5/97 in reply. Jonty Priest and Seth Arnold stepped up from the under-12s in this game and both took a wicket while Kelly James finished with 2/5. first 4/78
This weekend the Benalla/Greta combine side takes on Delatite at the Gardens while the Benalla team tackles Ovens Valley United at the Benalla Showgrounds.
In the Under-12s, the Bushies played Rovers United Bruck Red at Arundel St Lake end where captain Cooper Binion lost the toss and was asked to bat in hot conditions.
The Bushies did well to bat out their 20 overs against some good bowling and finished with 6/67.
Lucas Ham top scored with 16, while Will Botten was unbeaten on 12 and Cooper Binion retired not out with seven runs. Oscar Ring also batted his 20 balls out.
The RUB side managed to pass the required total in the 13th over and then piled on the runs to finish on 6/131.
Bryce Cooney was in good form with the ball, taking two wickets while Cooper Binion, Tom Griffith and Will Botten grabbed a wicket each. Botten also managed two catches.
This Saturday the under-12s play Rovers United Bruck Yellow at Arundel St Lake end in the last game before the Christmas break.
