The Breakers were hoping for a Christmas miracle, but the Wolves had other plans.

Round 10 saw Benalla head to Wodonga to take on third-placed Wolves in a Saturday night blockbuster.

The Breakers put up a good fight, but some classy play from Wodonga’s Deba George saw him put 35 points on the scoreboard, helping to deliver Wodonga an 84-66 point win.

‘‘It can be very hard to stop someone of his calibre,’’ Breakers coach Wally Armstrong said.

‘‘We had a couple of lapses in concentration but were right in the game.’’

Corry Westbury and Lachlan Kego both had strong games, while Armstrong praised the efforts of the whole team.

With four rounds still to be played in the competition after the Christmas break, Benalla will have three more chances at securing a win in their maiden season.

‘‘We will look to have a good freshen up,’’ Armstrong said.

‘‘We will be better experience next year.’’

Benalla’s next games will come in round 13 for a double-header.

The Breakers will take on Wangaratta on Saturday, January 19, for a night game in Benalla before backing it up on Sunday, January 20, for a day-time rematch at home against Wodonga.

Coach Armstrong also shared holiday wishes with everyone in the basketball community.

‘‘Have a safe and happy Christmas and new year,’’ Armstrong said. for the
