Alan turns 90
Goorambat’s Alan Saunders celebrated his 90th birthday with friends and family at the town’s historic Mechanics Institute Hall on Saturday (May 1).
Alan has been instrumental in the development of the town’s silo trail in his voluntary role of meeter and greeter for tourists passing through.
His wife Kath told The Ensign he still lived life to the full and maintained a keen interest in farming, despite retiring many years ago.
“And you can still find him playing his accordion which he started learning at 17,” Kath said.
“He has been playing it, and the piano, since his time with the Jack Jervasoni band back in the 1950s.
“Happy birthday Alan, from all your loving family.”
