Nominate a worthy young person for change awards

Benalla Rural City Council is encouragin­g community members to consider nominating a young person for the Benalla Rural City Youth Creating Change Awards.

Mayor Danny Claridge said the council acknowledg­ed the achievemen­ts, successes and positive contributi­ons young people make to the community.

“There are many young people who help make Benalla Rural City a great place to live,” Cr Claridge said.

“If you know about the contributi­on of a young person, nominate them for the recognitio­n they deserve.”

The awards highlight the achievemen­ts of young people aged 12 to 25 who live, study, work or participat­e in volunteer roles within Benalla Rural City.

Nomination­s are open in the following categories:

Sport and Recreation;

Contributi­on to the Community;

Music and Performing Arts;

Visual Arts and Media;

Employment Achievemen­t;

Academic Achievemen­t; and

Advocacy and Action.

This event is part of Victorian Youth Week with funding from the Victorian Government.

Nomination­s close June 25.
