Bats sound klaxons with coaching and signing announcements

- By Liam Nash

Goorambat Football Club is issuing a warning shot to its Ovens and King League counterparts: we’re not here to make up the numbers.

Senior co-coach Sam Gladstone — who will be aided by Jared Brennan and assistant coach Clint Nolan in season 2022 — voiced his lofty ambitions for the green, grey and gold, stating finals football was the kind of territory they were targeting with a list largely ready to prime.

“We’re not getting on the back end and needing a final charge, we’re young and looking to be that powerhouse team; not just for the next couple of years, but however long we can make it last,” Gladstone said. “Out of the COVID season so far, we feel business has been left unfinished, all the players see that and I think that is why everyone is sticking with their clubs and ready to go again.”

In an Ovens and King Football League season marred by COVID-19, the Bats battled hard to finish up in a respectable seventh place.
